It was a great day- warm, sunny and a slight breeze. We had 22 machines, 29 adults and about 4 children.
We headed into Hualapai Wash and detoured up a narrow side canyon for our first break. The wildflowers were in full bloom, many colors, and lots of cactus flowers. We crossed over the mountain range and into Meadview where we had lunch at Canyon’s End Restaurant. The food was pretty good but we had a long wait due to the large group that got there just before us.
Back over the mountain range to Hualapai Wash with lots of great views of the lake. The wash dead ended at the shoreline of Hualapai Bay where we took our last break. Steve Gilla couldn’t resist and went for a swim. After a 25 mile run back to the trucks we called it a day. Total ride was about 55 miles and we all made it back tired, dusty and smiling. What a great day.
Thanks to Ron Foglia (gate opener), John Alicandro (mid-gunner), Phil Sherman (gate closer) and Capt. Bob (tail-gunner). Also thanks to the whole gang who paid attention and made sure nobody took a wrong turn and got lost.
