Thanks to Phil Sherman & Capt. Bob
For providing additional support on today’s ride.
What a great ride! We had 37 people today. 36 members and one guest, and 28 machines. (14 ATV’s and 14 UTV’s). It was very windy which was annoying, but it helped keep the dust down enough so that the group could stay closer together than we normally would with a group of this size. Everyone did their job at the turns so nobody ever got separated from the group!
We took our first break down in the pit of the Portland Mine which now acts as a big basin for collecting rain water. Next, we stopped at the trail that leads down to Sidewinder Cove. This trail has been closed for many years, but the sign says it’s just temporary!
We had lunch in a small cove right on the lake shore, this is where we took our group photo. Lynn brought 10 pounds of carrots and donated them to a small group of donkeys and they devoured every scrap.
The last leg of our ride included some high ridge lines offering great views of Lake Mojave, some windmills and then a romp through some some fun twisty trails on the way back to the trucks.
One member was unable to start his ATV on our last leg so thank you to Phil Sherman for towing him back to his truck.
Back at the trucks, we had an all-you-can-eat potluck with grilled hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, donuts, brownies, cheese & crackers, drinks and more. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, including Tank who provided dropped-scraps on the ground clean up.
Thank you to everyone for making today’s ride so enjoyable.
